Mission

The Yew Mountain Center is a non-profit educational center, botanical sanctuary, and community hub in the hills of West Virginia. We provide opportunities for people to explore their relationship with the natural world through programs in ecology, arts, and sustainable living.

Vision

We aim to be a model for sustainable Appalachian land use, where "working the woods" supports both the local economy and the health of the forest.

Service Area

Pocahontas County and the greater West Virginia Highlands.

Featured Programs:

Forest Farming Demonstration: Our grounds serve as a living laboratory for ramps, goldenseal, and shiitake mushroom cultivation.
Youth Education: Immersive outdoor programs that teach the next generation about Appalachian ethnobotany.

Resources:

Nature Trails & Sanctuary: 500 acres available for public education and botanical study.
Workshops: Seasonal classes on ramp conservation and forest botanical propagation.
