The wait is now over for one of our favorite yearly reads. United Plant Savers (UpS) just released the 2026 Journal of Medicinal Plant Conservation, and it is now available as a free digital download for the entire plant community.

As forest farmers and stewards, the work UpS does to protect at-risk native botanicals directly intersects with our lives and work under the canopy, especially around forest botanicals and so many popular non-timber forest products. This year's journal highlights global stories of sanctuary work, deep ecology residency & reflections, as well as practical insights into preserving native woodland botanicals and medicines.
Throughout Appalachia and beyond, whether you are actively cultivating American ginseng and goldenseal or managing a backyard botanical sanctuary, this journal serves as both inspiration and a practical guide. It represents the vision of a huge community of herbalists, researchers, and forest growers working together to ensure these vital species thrive for generations to come.
